Blog 1, Today is October 11th. My internship is at Cal State East Bay and I am interning for a professor there.  The School is pretty Large and if you try walking around the whole campus you will get a whole days exercise.  It is located in Hayward Hills and people that work their have at least a 4 year degrees.  A lot of different people work there and if you really take a moment to sit down and talk to the teachers and students there people come from all over the world.  My place of work serves the community and the public.  They are organized and they are pretty much ready for anything and they have almost no weakness about the workplace.

Blog 2, Today is October 18th.  My mentor's name is Chris Baysdorfer and he is a professor at Cal State East Bay.  A typical week is lecture halls and labs.  And on Tuesday he has office hours and open lab for students.

Blog 3, Today on October 25th my role at my internship is to keep the lab organized and to help Ana my other mentor with other Labs and lab equipment.  I also help students with their calculation.  Each Day in the beginning is the sae because I orgainize the  lab but during the day will be different because I will be doing different stuff for my project.

Blog 4, Today on November 1st the First thing I did when I got to my internship was go to my lab room and organize all the drawers to make sure nothing is misssing from the drawers. Then I start on my project for WLE.  My project is going to check my DNA and see if I am at a risk of having diabetes when I get older and if I am to see when to type of diabetes I will have because it runs in my family on both sides.  In the biology class I am in they check for diseases, gender, and a lot of other stuff.  I am excited to d this project to see if I am at the risk of having it and if so I can eat better and so I can fight it so it won't be as bad as it wold of been.  Well all i have to do is now play with my DNA and check for stuff. 

Blog 5, Today on November 8th I isolated mine and my mentors DNA and then we ran it though several cleaning process.  After I finished that I created a gel and inserted mine and my mentor DNA into the gel.  And put it though a staining proces is when I put the gel into a chemical for about five minutes and then put it into regular water for at least 20minutes or more.  Then I put into a machine to take a picture of my gel so I can record my data.  Then when I finished that I went through the draws in my lab room and organized all the drawers. And my sure nothing was missing and if there was anything missing I told my mentor.  So far I have found out what I am going to do for my project and in my project I have completed my own gel and I have my DNA and next week I might start the process of checking my DNA for certain things.

Blog 6, Today on November 15th The leadership skill that I used the most was collaborate Productively.  I believe that I am using this leadership skills  pretty good because I am using the students around me to help to finish my work efficiently.  This leadership helps me with my work because you get to work with or along to finish your work fast.  My mentor used communicate powerfully because he had to communicate with his student so he could teach his students.  

Blog 7, Today on November 20th I have learned that if I try I can do college level work as a senior in high school.  I have learn that your word is vert important when you first met people and always stick to your word.  This internship affect me because I know how it feels to be a student at s university and it feels great.  if someone asked what I did at my intership I got to test myself for the risk or nonrisk allele of glucose transporter 1.  My choices at my internship will affect me in my future workplaces and also in college class rooms and how to act when you do not know what to do. 

Blog 8, Today on November 29th I had to contact my brother and i got this teacher email address then I email him asking to be his intern.  Then I explained what we are trying to get from this process. Then I had a face to face meeting and talked more and got to learn about him.  Connection are great when looking for a job. remember that! I think being responible at place of work is doing the work without any conpany and finishing by thr deadline.  Do what you have to do.

Blog 9, Today on December 6th I cleaned the Lab and help my mentor get most of all the equipment down stairs to the biocore.  So it can be really to be stored and locked up for the Winter break. I have improves as an intern because I am not dependent on my mentor to tell me what to do I just know now.  It makes it great for the professor becaause they know they are preparing his students to work in the next generations.

Blog 10, Today December 13th. My final thought about my WLE this year that I am glad I do it because I got to have an experience of a college student.  And that will prepare me for the following years to come.  This will affect me in my future becayse it shows me how it feels like a college student in class and at mid-terms times.
